A Fundació Mies van der Rohe e a Comissão Europeia divulgaram os 383 projetos nomeados para o Prêmio da União Europeia de Arquitetura Contemporânea 2019 - Prêmio Mies van der Rohe. Os projetos, oriundos de 36 países do continente europeu, representam uma ampla gama de tipologias e tipos de escritórios. Dos países incluídos, a maioria dos projetos vem da Espanha e da Bélgica (27 e 21 indicados, respectivamente). Londres, que abriga 12 candidatos, possui mais projetos mais indicados de qualquer outra cidade, seguida por Vilnius (9) e Paris (8).
“Os indicados em 2019 destacam as áreas metropolitanas como localização da maioria das obras, mas o mapa também revela a geração de eixos como o de Dublin-Bruxelas-Ljubljana-Tirana, onde vivem 100 milhões de europeus e um terço do número total de obras construídas, dentre as nomeadas", explicou o coordenador do prêmio, Ivan Blasi.
O Prêmio da União Européia de Arquitetura Contemporânea - Prêmio Mies van der Rohe foi criado em 1987 e é concedido a cada dois anos, com o vencedor recebendo um prêmio de € 60.000. Os vencedores anteriores incluíram o Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre em Reykjavik, de Henning Larsen em colaboração com o escritório islandês Batteríið e Olafur Elíasson, o Neues Museum em Berlim, projetado por David Chipperfield Architects e Julian Harrap e o Philharmonic Hall Szczecin na Polônia, de Barozzi / Veiga. O vencedor em 2017 foi o Kleiburg Flats, projetado por NL Architects.
A lista será reduzida a 40 projetos em janeiro, e o vencedor será anunciado em abril de 2019. Além do prêmio principal, a Fundació Mies van der Rohe está mais uma vez concedendo um prêmio de menção especial para arquitetos emergentes, cujos vencedores receberão um prêmio de € 20.000.
