Em 1991, o American Institute of Architects o chamou de nada menos que "o maior arquiteto americano de todos os tempos". Mas ele não foi apenas um arquiteto - também foi um designer de interiores, escritor e educador. Hoje, o prodigioso Frank Lloyd Wright completaria seu 150° aniversário. Apensar da idade, ele continua a inspirar as atuais gerações de arquitetos.

Os projetos de Wright eram guiados pelo desejo de alimentar as vidas de seus ocupantes. Ele se referia à sua arquitetura como "orgânica" - em completa harmonia consigo mesma e seu entorno, como se tivesse se desenvolvido tão naturalmente quanto uma árvore. Sua obra tardia é formalmente modernista, porém, apresenta pistas do tempo em que fora discípulo de Louis Sullivan no fim do século XIX.

Para muitas pessoas, Wright representa a imagem do arquiteto por excelência: se apresentava como um gênio solitário, exigente até os menores detalhes de seus projetos e de personalidade frequentemente impetuosa. Mas não há dúvidas quanto a sua visão de arquitetura - de a atemporalidade de sua obra continua revelando a potência de suas ideias.

No total, Wright concluiu mais de 500 projetos. Hoje, 58 anos após seu falecimento, a relevância do impressionante conjunto de sua obra não está esquecido; ao contrário, continua inspirando arquitetos, urbanistas, engenheiros de todas as partes do mundo.
